And what do you know, Jack wrote him back to answer his questions about turtles, and told him how he could help the turtles out, like visiting SEE Turtles http://www.seeturtles.
Max sent another email back thanking him, and we thought that would be it. But, on world turtle day, Max got a special package in the mail from his pal, Jack. It was a upcycled sea turtle with a pocket on his back. When I gave it to Max he was so excited and promptly named his new turtle Jack.
Max wanted to send Jack a picture of a turtle with his thank you, and knew exactly how he wanted to make it.
He told me what colors to use, and he moved his hand around with me supporting him with his huge paintbrush.
Then he got to work saying "Thank You" to Jack. This part usually takes him a while, but he cranked it out with exactly what he wanted to say.
"Thank you Jack. Mine want to listen to music. Play more music Jack Johnson. We work Mom. "
Before I could throw out the paint square we were mixing paint on I asked if he wanted to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and make another picture? Reduce Reuse Recycle is one of Max's favorite Jack songs from the Curious George soundrtrack.
So, Jack got a second turtle. We sent it all to him in the mail to hopefully get to him through his record company.
Certainly, we know he is a busy guy but we're grateful for Jack and Brushfire Records for continuing to make sure Max knows his friendship with Jack is the real deal.
