Pumpkin Run...

Max has been busy training for a race.  Well, really, he's been busy being excited about a race!

Max's school puts on a run each fall, called the Pumpkin Run.  Each grade level races, and at the end of the race, the kids get a pumpkin.  For 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades, Max was sick or the weather was too cold for Max to race.  Last year, Max got to join the fun for the first time.  He has been looking forward to it for a couple of weeks.  Steve did the honors again this year of running Max for a mile. Only this year, it was a lot more weight to push up the hills!  I think we're going to have to look into a Team Hoyt running chair if we're going to make this a new hobby!

Max lined up with his classmates, for their last Pumpkin Run, as 5th graders.

Some of his officer buddies were there to start the race and make sure everyone was safe on the roads.

5th grade all lined up and ready to go!

Mr. O giving the pep talk before the start.

And they're off!

The front of the pack.

Max and his good friend, Will had a great run together!

Honestly, can't believe I got a photo of both of them looking at me as they ran by!

Lots of cheering from the parents, and staff.

Will brought Max in through the finish line.

It was at this point I realized I had a blister on my finger from ringing the cowbell so hard for them all!  I wasn't the only one cheering!
Steve had to be the human brakes on a rolling Max!

A strong finish for two great 5th grade guys!

Max and Will

After the race, Max headed over to the field of pumpkins with his class.

Max got a tall pumpkin toward the front of the row.  He and his teacher talked about his awesome Batman socks, and how the capes must have helped him go fast.

Max said good-bye to his classmates and we headed home for his school time with his home teacher. He had such a great time, and was excited to tell her all about it once we got home.  He has another race on Friday which is district wide.  As always, we'll be documenting that fun as well and share it here!

I love the photo of him with his hair blowing. He looked like he was having a great time -- I look forward to seeing the next series!
