Today was Expressive Therapy Wednesday. We have not had one in a few weeks with Max being sick, then having surgery, and a therapist on vacation. I was happy to see him so into it today!
In music, he was able to make choices for some new music he's been working on for Halloween. If you would like to hear it, purchase it, or share it, you can do that by clicking on this link. He worked hard to make it "spooky", all the way down to his voice over part. All purchases of Max's music goes back into paying for his music therapy sessions.
We got some rather annoying news today about art therapy. Annoying, because there isn't much we can do about it. The agency the state has contracted with to provide expressive therapies with the waiver Max is on is stopping services because of lack of funding. This is something Max waited 5 years to be up on the list for. Now that he's had it a few weeks, it's stopping. We are looking into what we can do to get it funded through another agency, but chances are, we will have to start up a Max's art fundraiser to pay for art therapy also. And we need to continue art therapy.
Today, in art therapy Max held a paint brush and painted by himself, for the first time in his life.
Today, in art therapy Max switched his marker from one hand to the other without help, for the first time in his life. Max chose all the colors he wanted for his paintings, and let us know when he was finished.
Max wanted to do this painting for family. If you are family, consider it special for you.
And finally, for his last painting as a 9 year old, he wanted to paint his version of pumpkins for Halloween.
