Grumbly Tumbly

Max's GI appointment was this afternoon.  I didn't know how long it would take, but it was a proper specialist appointment, running over two hours.

That's not a complaint.

I'm glad the doctors take such care with Max, and make sure to get all of the history and information to make the best guess on what's going on.  Because in the end, it's always a best guess, isn't it?

Max has had looser stools since his surgery this summer.  The thought right now is that maybe after all the antibiotics he was on this summer, he's growing too much bacteria in the spot where they cut and put his bowels back together during surgery.

So, another round of antibiotics is likely.  We'll hear more in the next couple of days on when we start that.  The GI doctor also wants to see more imaging to make sure there's not anything obvious going on in his gut, and to see if there is scar tissue interfering with things moving through as they should.  And is running another set of tests on a sample that thankfully Max left for them before we left the hospital, so we didn't have to collect it at home!

More wondering what's going on inside the Monster's belly.  Another specialist involved.  More treatments in store.  But, still one silly happy boy coming home with us today, so really, there's nothing to complain about.

We'll see what Thursday's Metabolic appointment brings.  Blood tests, possibly medication adjustments, and hopefully good reports.

Here's hoping its something that can be managed at home with some medication. The title reminds me of the quote in Winnie the Pooh: "Rumbly in my tumbly" :)
