Our friends put it together, knowing that he loves to look at the flashy lights. It gave us the idea that he could use his switch and timer to turn some on.
This is the Powerlink 3 timer box that his button switch plugs into.
We plug the switch into the PowerLink box, and also the electronic device he can turn on. Then the box plugs into the wall. When he hits the switch, it activates the electronic device, and puts it on a timer. We use it as a motivator to use his switch. The more he uses his switch, the better he'll become at activating and manipulating his talker.
Steve chose the LED flashing lights today, and we hooked them up to his feeding pole to give him something to look at while he was eating.
He really had a great time with it! We'll figure out a better position for the lights. It's not exactly the best place just waded up on the feeding pole.
