Double Digits...

To get you through your candy hangover, take a look through the fun we had yesterday on Max's 10th Birthdoween!!!

Max started his day to this Super Bat-Nonni waking him up.  I think she wears the cape well.
BatNonni waking Max up

He was a happy guy to wake up and realize it was his birthday!!
Happy 10th Birthday Max!

Max went straight from bed to school.  And was thinking he'd rather snooze than do reading.
Wake up Birthday boy!

Once he got past the reading bit he was ready for a spooky ghost activity and The Great Pumpkin book on the iPad.
So tired for school

Enjoying The Great Pumpkin

He made sure his teacher knew...
My birthday is October 31st.

After school, Max had Speech therapy.  A good witch came instead of Ms. B. , and brought with her some nice treats for Max.

Max fell asleep after opening his card and present, so Ms. B. went on to see her other kids.  When Max woke up, he was so sad she was gone.  He cried giant, sad tears.  I got him over the sadness by reminding him he had a bike ride to go on in an hour.

A bike ride with friends, and powered by BATMAN!

More than once cars slowed to see Batman on a bike.  Of course, Max thought all of the attention was for him as Batman.  Not the Dad-Dad Batman behind him!

Max loves his Thursday bike rides with friends, and even with the blustery cold wind, he had a blast on his birthday bike ride!

We got home in time to finalize party preparations for Max's big event.

The polka dot pumpkin was delivered by his classmate's mom.  The kids had decorated a birthday pumpkin and signed it for Max.  They also all wrote poetry and made cards for Max.  I'll save those for their own post.

This is how Max wanted his pumpkin decorated this year.  He wanted to paint it yellow.  Just that much.

As the sun set, it got spooky at our house!

And then the most incredible thing happened for the boy who loves his birthday, and loves Halloween, and loves Batman.

He was surrounded by Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles and Cousins and Mom and Dad and Sister all dressed up as Batman.  Everywhere we turned we were seeing Batman!

Max made the request for chocolate cake AND pumpkin pie for his birthday.  It is usually one or the other, but you only turn 10 once!

We sang...

He got to eat his choices...

And then cousins helped with the presents.

He got a lot of amazing Batman things from friends and family!

And of course, Curious George too!

He also got a present which captivated his attention all the way to bedtime.

His new lovely snowman with lights, and Christmas songs and trains and Santa! He will sit mesmerized by this guy when we go to Costco, so Grammy and Grampy got it for his birthday.  Max thinks we should skip straight from birthday on to Christmas.  So, he can have his little piece of Christmas in his bedroom.

Max had a wonderful 10th Birthday.  He was surrounded by so many people who love him.  I stopped so many times through the day, from reading messages, getting phone calls, getting emails and videos and pictures from all over the world from friends thinking of our boy on his special day, and thought...he is so loved.  What a full life for anyone to have so much love directed at them.  Thank you all for sharing in our joy and celebration of our Max.
