I guess the exact date was yesterday, a year from yesterday he was discharged from the hospital. It's been a year of growing for our boy. He's just huge now. He's heavy. He's healthy. He's smart.
I was chatting with his pediatrician over email earlier this week, about a medication that was called in to his pharmacy and refilled without our notification. When I got the notification to pick it up, I thought it was a mistake, because it was an adult dose. His doctor said that was correct, since he was too big now for the junior dose. How did this happen? He was just a baby!
It's amazing what a year outside of the hospital will do for a growing boy. There has been no big illnesses. He has had some weight loss, but quite quickly put it back on since the spring, he's gained 20+ pounds. He has had seizures because of that increase in weight, and not keeping up with the seizure medicine. But, it seems like we're finally starting to get a handle on that again.
Now, the big thing we're working on is night nursing for Max. We have been interviewing nurses to stay up with him through the night, so we can sleep. I still feel like it's a practical joke...like they'll tell us, just kidding, or we made a mistake. The nurse we interviewed today was fantastic. She's really interested in working with Max too...so here's hoping soon we'll have that set up for us to get some rest in the night!
Max is hollering for me to go to bed now, so I'll wrap it up for now. I just thought it was worth saying out-loud...one whole year not being inpatient, let's shoot for another year!
